Advocacy

The Greater Nanaimo Cycling Coalition (GNCC) is diligent in its efforts for a healthy, safe, cycling-friendly Nanaimo for all. Our vision is that Nanaimo will become in the near future a city where cycling is as an essential part of its sustainable transportation network, where complete streets have been implemented in all neighbourhoods with safe, accessible on and off road cycling infrastructure, and where the needs of people who cycle are taken into account in all municipal planning and decision-making and lasting contributions to the health of Canadians.

Advocacy Initiatives

In order to achieve our goal of making bicycling in the Nanaimo region safer and more accessible to people of all ages and abilities, we have developed a 5-year plan. The plan calls for the implentation of several programs, educational courses and advocacy initiatives. We are announcing those at our AGM on January 22nd 2015.

Position statements

The Greater Nanaimo Cycling Coalition position statements address political, ethical and social issues that affect the welfare, health and safety of cyclist and non-cyclists in Nanaimo and BC.
