Ride Don't Hide - June 26 - 2016

Shoppers Drug Mart Ride Don't Hide is a community bike ride hosted by the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA), with the goal of strengthening and supporting the mental health of all canadians and their families. This year, with Shoppers Drug Mart as the Provincial Sponsor for BC, CMHA rides will be hosted in four provinces in over 30 communities with the aim to engage over 6,000 participants and raise $1,000,000.

Each community event is a ride, not a race, for riders of all ages and abilities—from novice rider to the advanced cyclist. Each ride is unique based on the community and landscape with some locations offering multiple routes for novice and advanced cyclists. Regardless of distance, cyclists will travel a route supported from start to finish with rest stops, water to fuel the journey, and fans to cheer them on! In addition to the enjoying benefits of physical activity, riders help break the stigma associated with mental illness by joining the Shoppers Drug Mart Ride Don't Hide community.

The CMHA Mid Island Branch is dedicated to promoting mental health throughout the community through public education, supportive housing and homeless outreach, programs and events. Public education is provided to the community through having informational tables at various events in the community and a speaker series focused on building mental health. Tweed Ride Victoria - September 10, 2016

A leisurely, stylish urban bicycle group ride for charity through the centre of Victoria, in which the cyclists are encouraged to dress in classic tweed or any smart looking outfit. Any effort made to recreate the spirit of a bygone era is also always appreciated. Any and all bicycles are acceptable on the Tweed Ride. This years fund-raising event is for Bicycles for Humanity , the local action group, to assist them in their effort to send a container-load of bikes to Namibia.

Tweed Rides are a worldwide phenomena, started in London in the fall of 2009 as The Tweed Run London. The organizers thought that it would be fun to have a slower-paced "cosmopolitan ride with a bit style". So they dressed in tweeds, rode their bikes through London streets and raised money for bicycles for Bicycles for Humanity.
