The Greater Nanaimo Cycling Coalition has a number of events planned for this year from programs, rides, events and advocacy work. In addition we will attend several conference and we can recommend anyway interested in cycling to attend some of these great meetings.

VeloWorks 2014 - September 17 - 18 2014 North Vancouver


VeloWorks 2014 will build upon the legacy of Velo-city Global 2012 by highlighting plans, improvements and programs from around the region and Province by bringing together political leaders, cycling experts and advocates to further move cycling forward.

September 17 will focus on all ages and abilities (AAA) cycling networks and the integration of AAA cycling facilities with complete streets featuring progress smaller cities and suburban communities as well as the health, social and environmental benefits of cycling. The discussion will also include measures to reduce conflicts between road users

September 18 will feature experts on all aspects of cycling tourism including network development emphasis on all ages and abilities routes, product development, marketing, wayfinding and events as well as the community and economic benefits. Also included will be practically advice on how the hospitality industry can cater to and attract cycling customers.

BC Bikes Conference - October 17-19 2014 Victoria


BC Bikes is the annual conference organized by the British Columbia Cycling Coalition. BC Bikes provides an opportunity for cycling advocates and professionals from across the province to come together, reflect on our accomplishments, and take a bold step forward for cycling in BC. There is a recognized need for an annual forum to build provincial cycling capacity, provide educational opportunities, share best practices, and move our collective goals forward.

The program also features action oriented discussions on a national cycling strategy, cycling education, family cycling, the mapping & reporting of cycling problems and cycling tourism . Key components of BC Bikes 2014 are the CyclotouringBC Workshop and Bike Sense Workshop the both of which are on October 17th.

Youth Bike Summit - February 13-15, 2015 Seattle


The Youth Bike Summit is an annual three-day national conference bringing together educators, advocates, activists, students, teenagers, practitioners, researchers, policy makers, and community leaders to engage around youth, bicycles, education, and advocacy. We bring people together from different disciplines and backgrounds to network, learn, and explore how the bicycle is a catalyst for positive social change.

AVICC Tradeshow - April 10 - 12 2015 Courtenay


The 66th annual AGM and Convention of the Association of Vancouver Island and Coastal Communities will be held in the Florence Filberg Centre, 411 Anderton Avenue, Courtenay on April 10-12, 2015.   In conjunction with the business program, a mini-marketplace & trade show is held in the Rotary Hall where refreshment break service for delegates will be incorporated.
This is your organization's opportunity to connect with over 200 delegates from 51 local governments on Vancouver Island, Sunshine Coast, Powell River and the Central Coast.  The official opening of the Convention is at 2:00 p.m. on the Friday and will adjourn at noon on the Sunday.  Booths must be staffed between 1:00 p.m. Friday and 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
